Cell Service in Summerlin
Ten new cell tower sites are online across Summerlin and five more are planned, and Grand Park is one of the five still waiting. Until the Grand Park tower is activated, the village is served by the surrounding sites on Far Hills Avenue, Sky Vista Drive and at Stonebridge Park. Why Summerlin is building towers now
For the first few decades of development the approach here was organic. Carriers were encouraged to mount antennas wherever a tall structure already existed, which in practice meant library and church roofs, school buildings, retail rooftops, field sport lighting poles and public street light poles, with the occasional dedicated tower. That worked when demand was modest.
It stopped working under two pressures at once: population growth in Summerlin West, and the near overnight shift of every home into a classroom and an office. Howard Hughes is now working with carriers to place a new generation of towers, different in height and design, inside existing and forthcoming regional park and streetscape locations, using the minimum number of sites judged necessary. The rooftop and streetlight antennas stay in place as what the developer calls an understory beneath the new canopy.

Towers still planned
Five sites are mapped as planned locations with carriers still to be determined. All carriers contracted to a site are committed to activating service, but the timeline for installation and activation sits with the provider rather than with the developer, so no date is published.

If you are buying new construction in Grand Park and you work from home, this is the single easiest thing to test and the one nobody thinks to test. Stand in the room that will be your office, on the floor you will use, and look at your own phone. Then ask the builder whether ethernet drops are an option at that stage of construction, because they usually are and they are cheap before drywall.

Is cell service good in Summerlin West?
It is improving, and it is not uniform. Howard Hughes has been adding dedicated towers across Summerlin because the older approach, which relied on antennas mounted on library roofs, school buildings, retail rooftops, field sport lighting poles and street light poles, could not keep up with population growth and with the shift to working and schooling from home. Ten new tower sites are online as of July 2026 and five more are planned.
Is there a cell tower at Grand Park?
Not yet. Grand Park is listed as a planned tower location with carriers still to be determined. Until it goes live, coverage in the village comes from the surrounding sites, the nearest of which are Far Hills Avenue, which carries AT and T, Dish, T-Mobile and Verizon, and Sky Vista Drive and Stonebridge Park, which carry AT and T and T-Mobile.
Which carrier has the best coverage in Summerlin West?
On tower count, AT and T and T-Mobile appear at the most sites. Verizon is on fewer of the new Summerlin West towers, and Dish on fewer still. That is a count of contracted sites rather than a signal strength test, so the honest advice is to stand in the house you are considering, on the floor you will actually use, and check your own phone before you write an offer.
When will the planned towers be activated?
No date is published. All carriers listed at each site are contracted to activate service, but the timeline for installing and activating is at the discretion of the provider, not the developer. Treat a planned tower as a reason for optimism rather than a promise.
Should poor cell service change which home I buy?
It should be one input among several, and it is easy to test. Walk the house, check bars in the primary bedroom and the home office, and ask the sales agent whether the builder offers a cellular booster or wired ethernet drops. If you work from home, this is worth ten minutes of your own testing rather than anyone assurance.
